What is a KURA kid?
At Titahi Bay School, PB4L (Positive Behaviour for Learning) is at the heart of everything we do. It’s not just a programme—it’s part of our everyday practice and school culture. Our KURA values guide how we learn, play, and interact with others:
Kindness, Unity, Respect, and Achieve.
These values are taught, modelled, and celebrated across the school. You’ll see them in our classrooms, in the playground, and in the way we support each other as a community. We proudly use Restorative Practice to support respectful relationships and positive outcomes when challenges arise. In class, we also use a consistent Traffic Light Behaviour system to help students reflect on their choices and stay on track.
Our KURA Kids Coordinator helps lead this mahi and is happy to kōrero with whānau who want to learn more about PB4L at Titahi Bay School.

Our KURA Kids Song
Kakano, Koru, Rakau
Ngahere, together we will grow
We will grow
From my School to my family
I’m bringing change to my community
Singing
I’m a KURA kid, living the KURA way
Everywhere I go
My home is Titahi Bay
Kindness, Unity, Respect and Achieve
Every Single Day
I’m living the KURA way
I’ll do my best, I’ll strive to succeed
Include others, we are all family
Tell me a joke, I’ll laugh with you
And I’ll be learning when I’m 22
If you’re lonely I’ll be your friend
When you fall down I’ll help you get back up again
Work together, we can achieve
‘Cos we’re stronger, united
We work for our dreams!

Tēnā Koutou Katoa, Ko Miranda McMahon tōku ingoa.
I have had the pleasure of teaching at Tītahi Bay School for over 25 years. I love the Bay, I love our community and I really love our KURA and the people in it.
Always lots of fun to be had in the Bay – I live with my husband Jason, our 3 children and our much loved dog Kora. The beach is my happy place and I enjoy travelling to soak up the sun.
He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tāngata! He tāngata! He tāngata!
What is the most important thing in the world? It is people! It is people! It is people!
